THE DESIGNER

Kate Toms is a trained textile designer living and working in beautiful Dorset, she moved to Shaftesbury in the late eighties and began painting as her family grew.

She did her training at Winchester School of Art back in the seventies and worked and lived in London through the eighties selling her designs to major fashion companies including Miss Selfridge, Next, Richard Shops and Whistles.

She took her collections every year to Milan and New York selling to companies such as Fiorucci and Rainbow and gained wonderful inspiration from the shops and showrooms in these cities.

Six of Kate’s original paintings are now printed on the softest pure silk satin with hand rolled edges. Printed by The Silk Bureau, who superbly interpret the colours and design to the highest standard.

Kate exhibits her work each year in Shaftesbury at her yearly show ‘Art in May’ and in London at 54 The Gallery alongside other artists hand selected by Kate.
